The automated insurance billing platform provider Zentist has demonstrated the company has implemented a HIPAA compliance program and is fully compliant with all appropriate provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule, Security Rule, Breach Notification Rule, Omnibus Rule, and the HITECH Act.
The Zentist platform was developed to simplify and automate insurance revenue cycle management (RCM) for dental practices and eliminate the significant costs associated with the inefficient legacy billing systems. It has been estimated that the use of legacy billing systems costs dental businesses around $2.1 billion in lost revenue. The Zentist platform uses robotic processes and machine learning to automate manual billing processes and meet the complex billing needs of modern dental practices. The nature of the Zentist platform means it comes into contact with the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of dental patients, which makes Zentist a business associate under HIPAA.
Under HIPAA, business associates are required to comply with certain provisions of the HIPAA Rules and must ensure the privacy and security of ePHI. To ensure the platform and the company were fully compliant with all appropriate provisions of the HIPAA Rules and the HITECH Act, Zentist partnered with Compliancy Group and used its HIPAA implementation program and compliance tracking software solution – The Guard – to methodically ensure policies and procedures were implemented that met the minimum standards for privacy that are required by HIPAA and appropriate technical, physical, and administrative safeguards were implemented to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability, of ePHI.
After completing that process, and using Compliancy Group’s 6-stage HIPAA risk analysis and remediation methodology, Zentist’s good faith effort toward HIPAA compliance was validated by Compliancy Group, which awarded the company the HIPAA Seal of Compliance. The HIPAA Seal of Compliance is evidence of Zentist’s commitment to ensuring the privacy and security of sensitive patient information and demonstrates to dental practices that the Zentist platform fully supports HIPAA compliance.
