Compliancy Group Confirms Send Mammogram Has Achieved HIPAA Compliance

By | February 10, 2021

Compliancy Group has confirmed that Send Mammogram has implemented an effective HIPAA compliance program and is compliant with the federally-mandated standards of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Send Mammogram is an innovative digital healthcare technology platform that empowers women to request prior mammograms for comparison before breast cancer screening appointments. Through the Send Mammogram platform, patients are digitally connected to mammography providers and can request and share breast health images through the mobile app and dedicated enterprise mammography image-sharing platform.

HIPAA is made up of a set of regulatory standards governing the security, privacy, and integrity of sensitive health care data called protected health information (PHI). Healthcare providers and their business associates must ensure that safeguards are implemented to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of PHI and patient privacy is assured.

“HIPAA is critical to Send Mammogram due to the sensitive nature of the images and information being electronically transferred on behalf of patients. The secure mobile and web platform allows patients to request their mammograms and other breast health images digitally, to be sent to mammography providers or directly to themselves. This empowers women to have their previous mammograms available for comparison, leading to more decisive results and courses of care if needed,” said Send Mammogram’s Founder and CEO Tillata Gibson. “The digital image-sharing focus of the innovative platform, which includes patient information, makes it essential that Send Mammogram is upholding the highest level of security and privacy for patients.”

To ensure that Send Mammogram is fully compliant with the HIPAA Rules, the company partnered with Compliancy Group. Send Mammogram used Compliancy Group’s proprietary HIPAA methodology and The Guard compliance tracking software to ensure HIPAA compliant policies and procedures were implemented and PHI was safeguarded.

After completing Compliancy Group’s six-stage implementation program, Send Mammogram’s good faith effort toward HIPAA compliance was assessed and the company was awarded Compliancy Group’s HIPAA Seal of Compliance.  The HIPAA Seal of Compliance confirms that Send Mammogram is adhering to the necessary regulatory standards outlined in the HIPAA Privacy Rule, HIPAA Security Rule, HIPAA Breach Notification Rule, HIPAA Omnibus Rule and the HITECH Act.

“Send Mammogram is a new yet critical service for all women, and we are committed to upholding the same high standards of patient privacy, security, and integrity as every other provider in the health care system” said Gibson. “We’re proud to have achieved compliance and look forward to furthering our mission of aiding women’s breast health by safely and efficiently sharing their critical mammography history.”
