Koshland Pharm transmits protected health information electronically, and is therefore classed as a covered entity under HIPAA and is required to comply with the HIPAA Rules.
HIPAA is made up of a set of regulatory standards governing the security, privacy, and integrity of sensitive health care data called protected health information (PHI), which is any demographic healthcare-related information that can be used to identify a patient.
